Just In: The Diviner by Libba Bray

Naughty John, Naughty John, does his work with his apron on. Cuts your throat and takes your bones. Sells ‘em off for a coupla stones…

Our story begins with Evie, who is living in the roaring 1920. She has been banished from her small town Ohio home to live with her uncle in New York City. Her uncle just happens to be the curator for a very creepy occult museum. Evie take no notice and hangs out with her boyfriend, friends and takes in New York`s seedy nightlife.

While living it up in New York, Evie notices a string of very strange and disturbing murders that she suspects are committed by a ghostly serial killer. Evie and her group of friends must solve the murders and find the serial killer all while navigating religious fanatics, psychic powers, romantic liaisons and the goings-on at the occult museum.

The Diviners is a worthwhile read: its characters are well developed, its plot is quick paced and the mysterious paranormal plot will keep you spooked and guessing.

If you liked Burn for Burn or The Darkest Mind, you`ll love The Diviners.
